There are five teams participating in the race in the IMOCA class, and six teams in the VO65 class. However, the VO65 teams are not racing around the world, but only in three stages for a new trophy called The Ocean Race VO65 Sprint Cup. The IMOCA teams are: 11th Hour Racing Team, Team Malizia, GUYOT environnement – Team Europe, Biotherm, and Team Holcim – PRB. The VO65 teams are: Mirpuri/Trifork Racing Team, Ambersail 2, Team JAJO, WindWhisper Racing Team, Viva México, and Austrian Ocean Racing powered by Team Genova.
The Ocean Race is a yacht race around the world, held every three or four years since 1973. It is considered the toughest test of a team in sport and sailing’s greatest round-the-world challenge. The 14th edition of the race started in Alicante, Spain, on January 15th, 2023 and will finish in Genova, Italy, in June 2023. The race features two classes of boats: the high-tech and foiling IMOCA 60s, and the one-design VO65s.
